NanoMagSat, A 3x16u LEO Constellation for Fast Recovery of the Earth Magnetic Field and Ionospheric Environment

Presenter:

Florian Deconinck , Open Cosmos Ltd.

Abstract:

The geomagnetic field has been monitored since 1999 with Low-Earth Orbit small satellites Orsted, CHAMP, SAC-C, CSEIS, Macau Sat and ESA-Swarm anticipated to be extended until the end of 2028.
Initiated by the Institute Physique du Globe de Paris and the CEA-Leti, with Open Cosmos as mission prime, NanoMagSat is an ESA-Scout mission with 3X16U Cubesat constellation in polar and inclined orbit to provide fast local time global coverage of the Earth magnetic field and ionospheric environment.
We present a summary of the mission as well as the latest status since its Kick-Off in November 2024.
