The industrialization of communication systems for CubeSats present numerous technical, economic, and regulatory challenges. Satellite integrators are now looking for higher performance CubeSat radios but also to higher production rates for their Cubesat constellations while increasing quality requirement.
The transition to high capacity demands important investment in automation, standardization, and supply chain optimization. However, this shift is fraught with difficulties that require innovative solutions, compromises and effective communication with customers and partners.
Industrial evolution of Safran Data Systems started with OneWeb Gen1 constellation. Then it was necessary to industrialize existing S-Band and X-Band CubeSat radios and integrate the lessons learned into new designs.
The proposed paper or presentation will focus on lessons learned from Safran Data Systems’ experience by presenting difficulties that have been overcome on existing systems and past programs.
